FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
...AND OTHER BORING BUT IMPORTANT INFORMATION
WHAT IS A CANTINA CRAWL?
A Cantina Crawl is when a group of people get together to walk/wobble (or sometimes taxi) their way from one local Cantina to another. The goal being to enjoying drinks, music and botanas at each stop. For our particular tour, we'll be hitting up 3, real Cantinas and finish with a stop at a local Microbrewery for a sampler of their most popular brews. Enjoy an authentic Cantina (not a "tourist trap"), music and Piratey fun! Our last stop is also popular with locals for their wood-fired pizza, if you have the time after our tour and haven't filled up on botanas - stay and grab yourself a *pizza! (*pizza not included in the tour)
SWEET! THIS IS A PIRATE TOUR? CAN I BRING MY KIDS ?
Mmmmmmnn....not sure if you saw the Pirate Pub Crawl F.A.Q's but that would be a "No."
This an 18+ tour. There will be adults...and drinking. And drinking adults - and all the debauchery this may entail. So no pups! Find a babysitter for the little scallywags...or we'll trade them in for rum.
WHAT THE HECK ARE "BOTANAS" ?
Botanas are Mexican snacks served when people order drinks in Cantinas and they will vary from stop to stop. Please keep in mind these are authentic botanas and served by the Cantinas, not the tour, so there's no guarantee of vegetarian or any other dietary preferences. Eat them, or don't - your choice.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Cozumel can be toasty, depending on the time of year (or your heat tolerance), so please wear something you'll be comfortable walking in for several blocks.
If you're a lovely peaches and cream complexion - sunscreen should definitely be worn. We're walking on sunshine - in the Mexican sun - from Cantina to Cantina and no, the Pirates won't carry your soused butt. Oh...and remember, if you get drunk and fall over - we're gonna laugh and take photos if we see your undies, so dress for walking! Feel free to Pirate yerself up as well - the more Pirates, the merrier!
WHAT ARE CANTINAS?
Cantinas are local Mexican bars. Traditionally they were for men only and women were not allowed inside - but we're Pirates and go where we want. Of course (as always) things change and these days it's really not a big thing for women to go into a Cantina. A couple of our Cantina stops actually have women managers, so no need to feel awkward.
WHY THE CANTINA CRAWL?
The appeal of Cantinas to visitors is that these local hangouts are just that - local. These are not tourist traps and not in tourist areas. This is the real, authentic Mexican experience you've been looking for - wrapped up in big, Piratey fun! The island is a safe place but some people have concerns with the idea of wandering back in some neighbourhood in search of a Cantina, it just isn't something they're comfortable doing. This is why we're here to lead the way!
CAN WE PRE-DRINK?
The Cantina Crawl is getting you tipsy (at the very least) with our day-drinking shenanigans so we'd appreciate it if you'd wait until after the tour to continue the party.
WHAT DRINK OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE? The Cantina Crawl is a beer only tour. So ya know, that's easy. You'll receive one beer at each Cantina and then a beer sampler at the microbrewery. There is also the option to try Cheladas or Micheladas at the Cantinas as well if you're interested.
DO WE NEED TO BRING ADDITIONAL MONEY ON THE TOUR?
This one's totally up to you. Keep in mind, we're having botanas at each stop, not a full meal. So if you think you may want to have lunch or more drinks after the tour, or you want to tip at the Cantinas (or your friendly Pirate guides after the tour)...then bring extra cash with this in mind. Our last stop has a wood oven and their wood fired pizza is pretty popular...so you might wanna stay have enjoy some "zza"
